Devotion for the 1st week of August

2 Cor 5:21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. (NKJV)

Jesus took our junk and gave us His treasure. Don’t stop halfway through this verse. Sometimes we get so excited that Jesus took our sin that we stop at that. Forgiveness is so awesome that we can neglect the rest.

God not only forgives us; He makes us His righteousness. We are covered with Christ. We are able to enter the presence of God and not die. We can stand right before Him and He accepts us. He sees His righteousness on us. It’s a gift.

You can come freely to the throne. You have the Father’s ear. How much more confident should our prayers be? He took your junk and gave you Jesus’ treasure.

Father, thank you for your Son becoming sin for me that I may become your righteousness. Thank you for accepting me. I know that I don’t deserve it. Thank you for hearing my prayers. In Jesus Name.
